How to register IMEI / ESN / MEID of imported mobile sets for personal use In Nepal

Nepal Telecommunications Authority made the registration of new mobile phones mandatory for domesticdealers as well as individual importers. This includes the registration of either of these three: International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number or Electronic Serial Number (ESN) or Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID) of every mobile phone that gets imported.

In order to make the use and sale of mobile handsets more systematic and regular, the authority has made it mandatory to register IMEI / ESN / MEID (Unique Identifier) ​​of the mobile handset with effect from 2073 | 1 | 1. The following information has been published for the public to register the IMEI / ESN / MEID of a mobile handset imported from abroad for personal use.

1. When importing a mobile handset from abroad for personal use, the IMEI / ESN / MEID of the mobile handset can be registered by submitting a copy of the application and citizenship or any other identity card in the format as per Annex-2 of the NEIR Interim Directive implemented by the Authority.

2. The Interim Directory and the application format is available on the Authority's website at http://www.nta.gov.np.

3. For the convenience of the public, the applicant can also register the IMEI / ESN / MEID of the mobile handset by filling the application form and sending it to the email address of the authority eir@nta.gov.np.

Also, you can register IMEI / ESN / MEID of a mobile handset, thru the online Registration System.

✔️ Visit the NTA portal.
✔️ Press Sign up for the login or register.
✔️ Click either the New importer or Individual application.
✔️ Click New register to put your phones IMEI with all the details like Brand name, mobile number, IMEI/ ESN / MEID number, Name, address, identification (Citizenship or ID card or passport).
✔️ Upload the identification ID photo (should be less than 3 MB)
✔️ You also need to put your contact number or email.
✔️ Then you are done with it.
